About the single

SweeTeez’s 56th digital single, “SODA RUSH,” turns back the clock to a summer beach in 1980s Japan.

The title track “SODA RUSH” wholeheartedly embraces the language of bright ’80s Japanese resort idol pop. Over a fresh 130 BPM tempo, sweeping lush strings, sparkling synths, brass and Rhodes piano create a glossy summer atmosphere. With no intro, the unison chorus “Ah — all the way to the edge of that sea” bursts in immediately, stretching out in long legato lines to carry a swelling rush of emotion, and in the key-raised final chorus, strings and brass swell together to complete the song’s climax.

B-side “YAHHO! BLUE” enjoys the same sea in a far groovier way. Over 118 BPM city-pop disco funk, slap bass, clean funk guitar and brass stabs interlock, while a gated-reverb snare vividly etches in the ’80s texture. The chorus “Crashing into blue, YAHHO BLUE!” and the ad-lib “My whole body’s tingling, splash splash!” drive the song to the very end with future funk energy.

Both songs close with the outro “うみ〜、やっほー!(splash!),” flowing into a single summer sea. Discover the most glamorous and dazzling resort page SweeTeez has painted.
