About the single
SweeTeez’s 61st digital single, “CHASE,” sings of a chase that can never reach its goal, yet never stops.
The title track “CHASE” depicts the eternal cycle of the sun chasing the moon and the moon chasing the sun. Relentless 150 BPM synth arpeggios and punchy kicks drive the whole song forward, while the chorus, “Sun chasing moon, moon chasing sun / Running the line till the world is done,” bursts in right away, pulling listeners into that orbit. Lyrics running from “Even if I can’t reach it, never gonna stop” to “Almost within reach, still I run” come close to a declaration that running toward the unreachable is itself who we are. The song’s euphoric yet bittersweet sentiment is the emotional territory SweeTeez does best.
B-side “SUMMER MAGIC” carries the opposite weight. A hyperpop bubblegum track layering sparkling chiptune synths over a bright 134 BPM Y2K sound, it captures a day of diving in without a moment’s hesitation, from “The sunlight sparkles the moment I open my eyes” to “Let’s go to the sea — now!” A light Jersey club bounce, 8-bit synth arpeggios, and the chorus “summer, you and me (na-na-na)” bursting after a “Three! Two! One!” countdown deliver summer’s purest energy.
“CHASE” is also set within the sun-and-moon universe that began with the 51st single, “Line & View.” The story of two beings chasing each other along the same line now continues into the possibility held in a single line: “sun and moon aligned.”
